Peach season is my personal favorite, because that means I can make limitless peach cobbler recipe for dessert. My husband and kid also love this one so it's safe to say that it's a crowd favorite.
Canned or bottled peaches are good too, but nothing compares to a slice straight from a fresh peach. When paired with vanilla ice cream, this dessert is sure to make you nostalgic in the best way. We used to enjoy this at grandma’s house in a dessert cup layered with some delicious ice cream in the middle, much like this recipe as well.
🍽 What You Need Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler Recipe
The main ingredient is without fault the peaches. They are best when ripe, but not too much. A bit of firmness prevents them from getting mushy inside the cobbler. A good mouthful of sweet peach sounds heavenly, except when it turns into a puree.
- Sugar. You never really need to use too much sugar especially if you’re monitoring your calories. I also recommend using monk fruit sweetener instead if that is the case.
- Butter. Real butter is a classic component that is tough to exchange with anything else, but in case you’re vegan, you are free to use coconut oil or applesauce.
- Flour. You only need all-purpose flour for this recipe, but to put a healthy twist on it, use ½ whole wheat and ½ all-purpose. To be honest, I never tried almond flour for this one but I’m guessing it would taste just as good.
- Baking powder. For airiness and for that nice fluff.
- Milk. Use the one of your liking, non-dairy or dairy. I used 2% milk.
- Cinnamon. This pairs beautifully with peaches. A small amount is enough, cinnamon has a strong kick.
- Salt. A dash of salt is important. This makes all the flavors in your dessert pop. Never skip this step.

- Take the peel off: Slice an “½” shape into the bottom of your peach and submerge each one in boiling water for 30 seconds. The skin should then slide off easily.
- Warm up your pan over medium heat and place in your peach slices along with half a cup of granulated sugar. Simmer until the sugar is melted and turns into a syrup.
- Turn on your oven to 350 F and put the butter in a 9x13 baking dish to melt while it’s warming up.
- Meanwhile, combine your 2 teaspoons of baking powder, ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, cup of flour, pinch of salt, ¾ cups of milk, and ½ cup of granulated sugar in a bowl until you get a soft batter.
- Remove the baking dish out of the oven and add in your batter. Cover the top with the peaches and syrup, then ½ teaspoon of cinnamon, and cook for 35 to 40 minutes.
🧊 How To Store Peach Cobbler Recipe
Any leftovers can be stored in the fridge for about 5 days in a sealed container, or 4 months in the freezer. It holds up on the counter for no more than an overnight.

Ideally, in the microwave. Reheat it in 30-minute intervals until the desired warmth. It can be reheated in the oven as well. Just turn it on to 350 F and put a foil cover over your dish. Leave for 15 to 20 minutes until ready.
