If you’ve been craving churros, you probably know they’re not the easiest treat to make, which might explain why you’ve been putting it off. Professional churros get their distinctive shape thanks to extruding machines, making it tricky to recreate that classic look at home. That’s where churro cheesecake bars come in!

Churro Cheesecake Bars Recipe this …

These bars are a game-changer, they use crescent dough to mimic the churro batter, layered with a creamy cheesecake filling, and finished with a generous coating of cinnamon sugar. They’re simple to make, incredibly delicious, and they smell absolutely phenomenal, like a warm, cinnamon-filled dream. Once you try them, you might not even miss the traditional churros!

🔪 How To Make Churro Cheesecake Bars

Fear not, this tasty dessert is very simple to prepare.

To make your cinnamon sugar, you will need to mix 1 and a half tablespoons of cinnamon with ⅓ cup of sugar. For the first half of the mix, it’s spread onto an oiled 9x13 baking dish. Then lay out the bottom crust of the bars on top, using a crescent dough sheet.

Now for the cheesecake filling: beat together 2 packages of 8-ounce cream cheese with a teaspoon of vanilla extract, an egg, and half a cup of sugar. Spread this mixture over the sheet of crescent dough.

Gently cover with the other sheet of crescent dough and coat with the leftover half of the cinnamon sugar.

Cook in your oven for 30 minutes at 350 F until golden brown.

🧊 How To Store Churro Cheesecake Bars

You can keep these bars in the freezer or in the refrigerator. Place them in a sealed container, putting parchment paper in between each bar to avoid them from sticking. These can be refrigerated for 4 days or frozen for about 4 months. Allow them to defrost in the fridge before plating them.

💭 Recipe Tips

  1. Before slicing into these bars, make sure they’re completely chilled.
  2. Let the cream cheese come to room temperature before starting on your filling, this makes it easier to blend with the other components.
  3. If your dough is too big, you can slice off around one inch of each side to help it fit better. You also have the option to roll it into a cinnamon bun and enjoy it that way.
  4. Spoon the filling into the sheet of crescent dough and spread it out using a spatula.
