The secret to the best banana bread is without hesitation over-ripe bananas! I know a lot of families, including mine, that make it at home all the time. They’re also great to give to your friends and kids’ teachers.
Enjoy it over a cup of coffee in the morning, and share it with your kids by incorporating it in their lunchbox. I like to keep it classic, but feel free to add some chocolate chips or nuts.
🍽 What You Need For Classic Banana Bread Recipe
You only need simple ingredients: egg, baking soda, butter (you can use salt too), sugar, very ripe bananas, a dash of salt, and vanilla extract.
🔪 How To Make Easy Banana Bread Recipe
The ripeness of the bananas is the deciding factor for the amount of sugar you will need. If over-ripe, only use half a cup of sugar, otherwise add ¾ or a full cup. The cheap brands of vanilla extract tend to have a bitter alcohol taste, so try to avoid those.
You can use unbleached all-purpose flour or whole wheat instead of half and half for a healthy version, any brand is fine.
The dash of salt is what makes all the flavors pop.

📖 Banana Bread Made Using Baking Soda or Baking Powder?
It might not taste like it, but bananas carry a good amount of acid in them. Their pH level is at 4 or 5, therefore you balance it out by adding baking soda which has a higher pH. It’s the component that helps your bread rise, but it also gives it that nice brown color when baked while still being moist. Too much baking soda will make you your banana bread taste like soap, so be careful. Here’s a tip: when baking with something acidic, for each cup of flour, use a teaspoon of baking powder. This recipe is 1 and a half teaspoons, equivalent to 1 and half cups of flour.
